Jakarta in Pictures : A Market with Speed |
by Eko Prasetyo @ 8:42 PM Have you ever seen a mobile market? I mean, a real market that sells almost everything, from books to beverages, from foods to fertilizers, from toys to toilet papers, loaded inside a speeding train's cars? Meet Jakarta's Inner-City Electric Trains Transport System, where passangers cramped inside old, rusty, cars whichs doors aren't able to be closed. Add that to peddlers that sells almost everything (even drugs, I presume), you can feel the heat and smells that people generate and have to bear everyday. I can't show you how cramped the train is, cause it's very dangerous in Jakarta for someone to take pictures while people are cramped on each other. But this picture shows about 2% of the maximum number of people onboard each car everyday. click to see larger image |
