Biting News of The Day and Heavy Rain and Crashing Trains : June 30th, 2005

by Eko Prasetyo @ 7:36 PM

Heavy Rain and Crashing Trains

Sometime around 16.30 p.m today. As I waited in the bus stop, I thought that nothing wrong will happen, today would be just another day. And as I stepped into the bus, the feeling was the same : just another office day. It was the start of a heavy rain that made me thinking : Well, this won't be just another day, heavy rain is pouring, and I have to think where should I drop by to avoid getting all wet. That was it, nothing else.

But when I decided to switch bus and hopping into another waiting bus, the day started to turn different in a big way. One, for a starter, there are continous wailing of sirenes past me by. 5 or more ambulances, 2 firetrucks, and 2 fire officer jeeps made their way through the dense rain as I watched through flowing water covered stained window of a third world public bus.

Something had happened..and it happened close to home..or even worse..it could happened at my home. I tried to conceal my panic, and it was not easy.but I managed somehow.

SOMETHING HAPPENED, AND IT IS BIG!!

Then, people who braced the punishing rain began to gather inside the waiting bus. Talks began to fly. Talks about things that had collided. Amidst the sound of rain hitting the earth, the noise of traffics, and the wailing of the sirenes, I began gathering pieces of the talks that fit in a puzzle. Talks by talks, pieces by pieces, I was finally able to finish the puzzle.

A train had stopped in front of a railway crossing, and another train hit it in the back. Casualties were plenty. Traffics were being messed up. We'll have to take another route.

It turned that the end of my day was not so "normal" after all. I was inside a bus I would normally won't take (I walk almost every after office to home instead of taking the bus), I had a very wet afternoon, I was in a very tense situation of people talking about crashing trains, and I was taken to a route I have never taken for the past 4 or 5 years.

A train accidents, right around my neighbourhood. Newsmaking event in approximity of my home. Never had it since a Hercules-class transport plane crashed in proximity around the early 90's.

And still, it's not enough to make me feel something new has just happened. It's not big enough to be felt as a new flavor. Something is brewing inside me..and it's adaptation to static life.

That's not good.

Crashing trains are not good things indeed.

And NOW! For you who missed what happened on other parts of the world, read on!!

People said that AMD is frustated for not having larger market share despites their innovations, and now that intel is playing the game, the future of innovations is at stake, not to mention that fanboys begins to wage war as AMD began to take a long walk of fighting. Well, the future of freedom of using self-bought properties is already tainted

Something was amiss when dubya said this, He preferred to have sacrificing more of his motherland's children for the wellfare of other nation. It smells so oily when dubya said that.

Darn Rackets

by Eko Prasetyo @ 12:50 PM

Everytime I take a lunch on one of the eating places on the back of my office building, there'll be groups of people coming and just play some out of tunes music and songs and shoving plastic bags around forcefully, hoping that they will get some money from it.

I don't mind their playing, as long as they make a proper introduction and finish their songs. These bunches don't do it. They just come in and out of the blue, they play songs, and as soon as they have shoved their bags to all of the people, they went out and didn't finish the song. I call it annoyance, and they are really annoying bunch !!

More Fuel to The Bomb

I have been thinking that now Blogexplosion has friendster-like profile system, why don't they make peope able to set their blogexploding experiences to only seeing blogs that have the same preferences with them. I mean, I'm a fans of Mandy Moore, so I want to visit blogs from people who are fans of Mandy Moore more than any other blogs.

What do you think?

Adding Fuel to The Bomb

by Eko Prasetyo @ 7:11 PM

Blogexplosion is hot, its ways to make fun experiences travelling from blog to blog are cool. But there is something that's been disturbing me : its 30 seconds rule.
It is a good way to rack plenty amoung of credits..but after awhile, there's something not right : you get the same amount of credit no matter how long you spend your time on a blog.

I think it is better if Blogexplosion do its credit system based on how long someone visits a blog. And it will be better if Blogexplosion gives way for blogexploder to give some point to a blog. The valued blogs then get charted. The higher points they get, they higher they are in the chart. The combinations of these , I think, are some kind of chain reactions : People will stay at a site longer to read it longer, and the longer they are reading a blog, it will be more possible for them give higher value to a blog or simply gets more from a blog than mere 30 seconds. Blogs that have more value will be known more, so that bloggers will try to be more attractive as possible, to make people feel worth it to get more credits by reading blogs longer.

And..that's it. What do you think?

Unguided

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:06 PM

There are people who enjoys living with the unknowns, walking down the road of some unknown territory, trying to be pioneers, or simply trying to color themselves that way. Sometimes I do that, enjoying seeing things anew, exploring the unknowns, trying to exceed my limits.

But It is different when at the office. I simply don't like it when I have to do jobs that I and many others don't know shit about. You could say that it is the same as exploring unknown territory, but somehow it feels like I have been given a leftover job, and my nerves will twitch all day.

Growing

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:05 PM

I have been growing up. It has been being revealed to me that the more you grow up, the more you touch people, the more you'll understand that many things are not what they seems. One honest smile can mean knives in your back, one sadistic comment can be your saving.

I believe that pieces of oneself are in the hands of other.

We must go into the world and collect those pieces, in order to find what we really are, to complete ourselves . But like all of us will know, we must be careful stepping into the world, as our senses will be flooded with informations that if we can't filter, sort, implement, and learn from, we'll be subjugated by whatever reality shaped in our minds by those informations.

Reality shaped in our minds, grown from our acceptances of what our senses feed us, tend to be more and more misleading nowadays.

Sometimes, I feel, we will stop growing when we have fixed our mindset of reality and be content with it.

Easy Saturday

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:59 PM

Ah...saturday...the busiest day in a week in my life for the last 4 months. Say whatever you like, but it's true.

It's time for me to contemplate, to cleanse my mind, to resurrect myself from the ashes that I turn into the rest of the week, to face the personal demon child that resides within and whines all the time, begging to be indulged. For 6 months, I let the demon child loose on the surface, letting him try things here and there, pushing me over the edge again and again, leading my life into a chaotic pattern, one which in the end I have to shut off before it becomes too entropic.

The demon child have been fighting hard, even as I write this.

Results of all chained emotions that I have been containing for the last 9 years, the demon child finally took form, separate from what I am, become my partner when I'm alone. All of his sickness, all of his craziness, all of his dark intents, all of what he is, have been trying to take control of what I am. Able to keep him at bay for long, I let him took control of me the day I walked into my cubicle as an engineer, behind my PC, in front of the Microsoft Outlook, eager to try his potency, eager to wreak havoc, eager to proof that he has a romantic charm.

Romanticism he has, but his lack of experiences and wilderness of his instinct keep everything from taking a proper shape. He wreaks havoc.

Two weeks in the field, he has little time to be free, cause I have to face a lot of people all the time. He shrinks everytime the number of people increases.

Two weeks in the field, and I have regained control of what I am. I have decided to some of his qualities to replace what is lesser in me.

He has been demanding a full control of them, I have been kicking him back each time.

The demon child is back into his cage, deep within myself. I won't let him go out once more. I'll strip him of his weapons and make them mine, but I won't let him loose again.

People in my office have never seen the real, undisturbed me.

The Rise and Fall of Indonesia

by Eko Prasetyo @ 10:28 AM

Indonesia proclaimed its independence in August 17th, 1945. And like Nietzsche once said, it has been dying since its birth.

Few people proclaimed that what was occupied by Dutch in south eastern part of Asia and later controlled by the Japanese is what is called Indonesia. Soekarno and Hatta were two prominent leaders who, despite the contrast of leadership style between the two, united the people of the occupied islands to strive for independence.

They united, and they gained Independence. Amidst the assault from Japanese, Dutch, and Allies, Indonesia embraced her Independence close to heart and inspired her children to keep it present, intact, and everlasting. The children fought, shoulder to shoulder, protecting each other, one by one sacrificing themselves, one by one built the foundation on which Indonesia could hold ground.

And finally, they gained Independence. The World accepted them. The Children smiled, relieved, liberated.

But the world then split into two. One the Allies and its capitalizing of the non-realities tainted wealth system, one the Soviet and its capitalizing of its hyperbolic sense of equalizer. The children of Indonesia, however, were split to thousands.

Thus began the everlasting infections that will plague Indonesia for eternity : self-fullfilling strive of its influential children, liars and deceivers who has been selling her grace to children of others, agents of other nations that seek to rob, and cowardice that set itself on the back of slave minded children.

Soekarno strived to make the children united and free from the influences of both splits of The World. He did his best, but the children clinged to much to him. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Soekarno was corrupted, his soul can't hold his ideal real, his mind was cloudy, and his actions become superficial lies to cover his failings. Indonesia wept, her grace was about to be tainted. Soekarno had chosen the Soviet minded children among her others cause he feared that the Allies had become influential each day, and he can't stood with other still weak babies. He needed strong ally, and he had chosen.

The children got confused. They saw instability. They saw inconsistency. They saw cracks. And soon their cowardice dominated. They let liers and deceivers grow free. They let themselves be torn by smaller, self-fulfilling leaders. Amidst the forcing of the communism into Indonesia's bloodstream in the waning days of Soekarno, the Allies seduced her children, among them the liars, deceivers, and robbers. By contesting the communism and Indonesia's immunity system, the Allies began the everlasting overtaking of Indonesia's honour.

So rise Soeharto: liar, deceiver, agent of the occupation and perfect mix of intelligence and deceit. Capitalizing on the turnmoil caused by the overtaking, he rose as unifier, as man with legal mandate, as man who brings helps from others, as man who entrusted others to manage the help.

The helps turned into the claws that ripped. The claws then turned into parasitic seeds. The seeds turned into evil trees. The trees sucked Indonesia's grace, rooted into legal wrongdoings, fertilized by ignorance and cowardize, and grows out of control.

Indonesia looks like its was rising again, looked growing and healthy outside, but inside its failing each day. Inside it was seggregated The desecrated children was taking further down into the abyss day by day, unable to speak about their seggregation, unable to speak about the injustice, unable to speak that they were crippled, unable to point that their guardians were their robbers, unable to do anything, cause they were self-serving cowards themselves. The boot licking children were taken into the height, ropes tied into their necks as they were fed with wealth and fulfilling glory

They let Indonesia wept long, lonely in silence, stripped of her honor, naked, like prostitute : taste of shame in tongue of others who took her to bed each night.

And that others raped her hard recently. They stripped Soeharto off its power, thus they let the children lose of his rope of obedience, making Indonesia a deserted mother waiting to be raped again, this time more sadistic.

Among the seggregated children, both from the desecrated and the boot-licking, rose those who sought to lead. Scions of Soekarno, Preachers, Man of arms. And like bricks of a once powerful but then crumbled wall, they are small, cracked, and weak.

Amidst these, the others who lent help that turned into evil trees act again, lending hand to them, but not to guide, but to take hold of them like a grandmaster would do a chess pawns. And they moved in a board staged by the others.

In shor time, Indonesia have short lasting leaders. The scientist fall, thus fall Indonesia's grace in science. The Preacher fall, thus fall Indonesia's grace in religion. The Scion of Soekarno fell, thus fall the honor of her proclaimers. And now the Man of Arms rose, promising he would do things better, but already he is surrounded by debts, dragged around by needs, hand guided by the others, and blinded by the men of words. God warned him that he has power by flooding his doorsteps, burning his gardens, and making his children, neglected children, suffers more. But still he took silence as gold, and still he left his children to visit the evil, to be tainted furthermore.

Instead of taking hold of Indonesia's treasure, he gives them to others.
Instead of cutting ropes of others, he strengthen their knots.
Instead of being honest and straightforward, he uses spinsters words.

Already he showed his befallen, taking route the way Soeharto controlled the Mother : letting her children fight each other, sought to seek benefits from the natural selections, and submitted himself at the feet of others who lent their hands.

And what did the children do?

The desecrated once breathe harder than before, even from the time they were under The Dictator and The Agent. Their lives spiralling further downward. Their self-fulfilling natures took control, putting them in contention that masks them from the needs of other children. They are tainted, corrupted, tortured, tied, and , already begin to look like dirt on the floor, need to be swept into under the carpet everytime any guests come visiting.

The boot lickers turn into bloathed rats, eating any healthy part of Mother that left, and try to feed into each others if they can, and in turn be fed into the hands that seeks to control.

But among these dirts and rats, rose those smaller anomalies. Those who seek to enlighten themselves and others, children that rise like phoenix from ashes would, children that seeks to discard their rat skins and turned humans. They gathered, they enlighten each others, they lick each other's wound. They stored collectively whatever hopes they have, paving ways into realizing dreams of healing The Mother by healing themselves first. Challenging the corrupting system that encroaches them and seeks to eat parts of them back into it. In these children, Mother cling her hand, hoping that they keep themselves clean, hoping that their senses will not become dull, hoping that they will grow their numbers, hoping that these small pecks of light will not dim out and be eaten back into darkness by the system.

In these, Mother seeks help to return her glory. To cleanse her, and to bring her back to honors.

Will the children fulfill? God knows.

Pictures of A Field Journey : June 2005

by Eko Prasetyo @ 8:00 PM

These are pictures I took with my Canon Powershot A95 when I did some field job in Malacca Strait Oil Fields. Click to see larger and better looking images

This is the wing of the plane I took when I went there. it has been a fact that I got wing-view seats during my trips to the field.

The boat I took that will bring me from mainland Sumatra to its smaller Padang Island. It is called Kurau Express.

My room located on the company's accomodations for standing by crews. You can see my senior took a Sholat (Prayer) in the corner.

Just outside my room

The fountain in front of the main office complex

The road that leads to the two main oil fields of my company : Kurau and Melibur

Men working on a Hydraulic Workover Unit, silhoutted against a bright sky. The unit, rig if you prefer, snubbing we use to call, is the one used to disassembly, repair, and do things to a well. This unit was working on a gas well.

Monkeys. There a lot of them in the fields. Trekking through the field felt like a safari, enjoying mix of indigenous people, local animals, and metals structures that live in apparent harmony.

The majestic pictures of nature's beauty.

And finally, CLOUDS !! Perfect Mix of Blue and White and Beauty of Randomness..

Rotten Apple ?

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:07 AM

Apple have decided to use Intel microprocessors as parts of their next series of Apple PC. I think it sucks. Apple should stick to its uniqueness and don't plunge themselves into the crowded river of x86 PCs. By staying in their own dominated niche market, they have better chance to survive. Small, but longer lasting.

Maybe Stevie has just got a little greedy and feeling a bit adventorous, trying to reap the benefits of riding on iPod wave and trying to tell people that Apple is in the mainstream too. People are now switching to Apple PCs, thanks to the small wonder iPod. Apple decision to ride with the x86 boys may prove fatal to them.

Devilish

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:01 AM

Watched a japanese movie, "Devilman", and realized something : It sucks. Well, not all aspects of the movie suck, only the actors and the director. The computer rendered action scenes are fantastic, true to the root of "Devilman" : a horror comic made by the father of Super Robots, Go Nagai. But the characters, especially the boys, are downright lame and has nothing to offer but their meekness that may be appeal to girls and queers, but not me.

Man, it made me think that sometimes budget movie sacrifices the quality of the actors to meet the demand of the special effects needed...

A Scavenger and His Death Child in His Cradle

by Eko Prasetyo @ 9:26 PM

A Trash Scavenger (Man who picks up trashes, collects them, and sold them to recyclers) had no money to end his daughter endless vomitting and defecating. She died, and he carried her inside a Mass Rapid Transit to bury her in a cheap place in the city.
He couldn't afford ambulance nor people to bury her.
He was alone til the end.
And it happens in a country where a 100.000 US dollar cars have been sold easily.

SICK !!
