Winning When You're Losing

by Eko Prasetyo @ 6:49 PM

You know, if you are being constantly pummeled in a battle of the blogs of Blogexplosion, if you're smart enough to take chances, you're actually winning.

First, let's start with how many votes it takes to stop a battle : 15.

And then, can you start a battle with 10 credits? You can. 15-10 = 5 easy visitors.

Do you have a hit counter put in your blog? No? Go get it now, cause it's the key to the next trick.

You see, some hit counter, if clicked, will display your statistics.

If you use an automatic traffic exchangers, like autohits or space-surf, you'll be likely to have a HUGE numbers of traffic coming to your site everyday.

With that huge traffics, you can fetch a high price for a rented space on your blog (via blogexplosion's rent-a-blog feature).

One will gladly pay you 500 credits if they can get thousands of exposures.

Now, use that 500 credits to start battles of the blogs, 10 credits at a time. You'll end up with 1.5 x 500 visitors = 750 visitors !!

So, you have been a very active battlers, but you lose all the time, no? Don't worry, you will end up having more visitors that way.

You see, people sometimes love extremes, especially when they are presented with lots of options.

Think "Battle of The Blogs 50 Top Losers". That's your extreme, that's where you have to stand out if you're a losing blogger. People will see your blog at the top, and people will likely to get attracted to your blog and click on it.

You'll have less honours, but you'll have more visitors the end with less efforts !!

Losing can be advantageous too !!

E-Gold Conspiracy

by Eko Prasetyo @ 11:59 PM

Nah, don't take this one so seriously. I know, the latest posts on this blog which spell out the sequence c-o-n-s-p-i-r-a-c in their titles deal with some very serious stuffs regarding the conditions of the world, but this one will not be it.

This one will make you, hopefully, get enlightened in how VAST the internet economy is.

Now, lets start with e-gold. E-gold is
e-gold is an electronic currency, issued by e-gold Ltd., a Nevis corporation, 100% backed at all times by gold bullion in allocated storage.

That means when you are depositing your money into your e-gold account, you are buying a fraction of a gold bullion (a piece of gold with standard dimensions), thus your real time account value is in connection with the real price of a standard gold.

Your e-gold account dollar value can go up and down in real time.

So you see, it is not a very good idea to make the account value of your e-gold as high as possible (the same sense can be said for your bank account, for example, cause it has the possibility of going down suddenly if gold price is down.

So..if you have thought about it, what can you do to save your e-gold account?

First, lets talk on WHY do you need an e-gold account.

Me, for example. I need an e-gold account to make an online deposit into my Marketiva account, cause I do not have a US$ bank account to do wire transfer, and there is this fortunate fact that there is an e-gold broker firm operating in Indonesia.

Marketiva is a forex trading platform, if you haven't know that by now. It accept deposits from and withdrawals to an e-gold account.

Yes, e-gold is an online account, akin to Paypal and Greenzap.

Paypal is the most prominent of all online accounts, but it's also the most limited. It only accepts the citizens of 56 countries and yes, Indonesia is excluded.

But e-gold is different. E-gold is not discriminator. E-gold accepts Indonesians. Long live e-gold !!

But this post is not about discrimination and Paypal, this post is about E-gold and what can you do with it.

First, the most obvious, you can make deposit into it. Find a way to make deposits that suits you. I have my broker here in Indonesia, so you may find yours nearby.

Second, you can invest your E-gold.

Invest? Yes, probably in THOUSANDS of Ways.

First, there is one form of e-gold investment called High Yield Investment Program, or infamously known as HYIP (yip, yip, yip !!).

There are THOUSANDS of HYIPs out there, and from what I can read, most of them are SCAMS !!

You may want to zap to here if you want to know how many hyips are out there and how many of them have been marked as scams.

Okay, you now know that HYIPs are numbered in thousands, and most of them are scams, but you still don't know what HYIP is.

Let me give you an enlightment: HYIPs are usually those who gives you promises that they can double or even triple some amounts of your money in matter of 20 days or so. They usually accept investments in form of e-gold, and promise to deposit your profit daily to your account.

Looks like easy money, right? That's why you are smelling SCAMS all around it.

Anyway, I have tried two of them, one is QueenHYIP (promises 10% daily profit) and another is Comboinvex (promises 15% daily profit).

I have received my first payment from QueenHYIP, on time. That's 19 more payments to make them trustworthy. I started my investment on Comboinvex starting today, and hoping to be paid tomorrow.

I have registered to managed-forex too, but they ask for US$ 10 in form of e-gold, which I don't have right now. Managed-Forex is an explicit form of HYIP, in which they put the investors money into forex trading, promising that the investors will be enjoying forex market profits without breaking a sweat. Yeah, a reguler guy's dream.

And I am a reguler guy

HYIP is one, and there's one more: AutoSurfs.

Autosurf programs, like Space Surf, are programs in which you are paid by viewing automatically loaded sites. Most of the time, you are required to deposit an amount of dollar, your level, and the amount of money you are paid corresponds to your level. So, if you have a 10 US$ level, for example, you will be paid 10 cents each day you meet the site-viewing requirements.

You will mostly see advertising sites, but you will not complaint anyway. You don't have to click anything except "that small X button on right top of your window" if you feel you've seen enough to earn some profits.

And most of them are accepting e-gold too, and will be making payments to your e-gold account directly.

So, There's HYIPs and there is AutoSurfs. Where can you put your e-gold next?

Your regular bank accounts perhaps (after converting it to your local currencies or US$, of course) so that you can start investing in real economic sectors and make the economic growth of your country higher?

Or you can convert some of your e-gold into Blogexplosion's credits and get visitors without the tedious works of clicking a "correct number"

Thanks BE !! Your e-gold accepting ways are A BLESSING !!

Aaaah, it's been a very long articles, and I haven't mentioned that you can accept payments in form of e-gold too (OF COURSE!!). So, if by any chance you are blessed by some sort of enlightments after reading this article, please remember that I'm just a reguler guy and reguler guy needs money.

So if you be so kind, please donate me in form of e-gold

And oh yeah, check my forex trading site in case you are interested in small time forex trading.

See you in e-gold investing world !!

Three Clocks Of Brain

by Eko Prasetyo @ 6:18 AM

Your brain is a time machine with three modes that control everything from instantaneous tasks like moving to maintaining long trains of thought and ultimately staying in synch with night and day.

Duke neuroscientists Warren Meck and Catalin Buhusi call the middle mode "interval timing."

"To understand speech, I not only have to process the millisecond intervals involved in voice onset time, but also the duration of vowels and consonants," Meck said Friday. "Also, to respond, I need to process the pacing of speech, to organize my thoughts coherently and to respond back to you in a timely manner."

Theorists used to think interval timing was orchestrated by some sort of biological pacemaker that emitted timing pulses.

Iran Nuking Out ?

by Eko Prasetyo @ 5:12 PM

It seems that the time I have spent in the world of small timer forex capitalism, Marketiva, has made me ignorant of what has been happening in the arena of international politic of the "clash of civilizations" era.

This is what has been happening: Iran is threatening Israel. It smells of nuke.

Iran has defended its president's call for Israel to be "wiped off the map", saying this has been its foreign policy since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Well, I guess dubya has one more reason to invade Iran, right?

Just wait on this.

Time of Conspiracies

by Eko Prasetyo @ 12:00 PM

I don't know how many conspiracies we have to bear nowadays.

I don't know how many conspiracies we have been living in.

I don't know whether we, the ones who lived under man made ceramic substances, can evade from being a part of a moving conspiracies.

But all that I know is the fact that in order to make a living, politicians, their puppetmasters, and their appendages need to conspire.

Conspirations that may go like this:

1. Fuel Price Rise in Indonesia is not to benefit the people, but to allow foreign fuel companies to plant their root in Indonesia and suck people's money away.
Government of Indonesia can not help but be drooled by the prospect that the companies will give some of their profits into their own private pockets. Hey, corruption is a day to day thing here in Indonesia. Every breath we take smell of corruptions.

2. Avian Flu issue is to reduce the economic growth of Far East and South East Asia growth.
Hey, Asians have been showing interesting growth rate lately. Some country even sees them as new emerging threat. So, why not implant some deadly virus there, starting with China, the most threatening of all.
"And oh yeah, why don't we try to intimidate Indonesia too. Their government is about to increase oil fuel prices, and they need to have a BIG mass media diverter!! Avian Flu outbreak will just be THE THING !!"
It makes a good diverter too for the Iraq issues too. Add that with some "scientists" that say it will kill MILLIONS if it can transmit from human to human, and people will start forgetting Iraq and started thinking about ROCHE and its TAMIFLU.

But so far, it's not working properly. Iraq is still an issue people took seriously.

3. Bali Bombing episode II is not about terrorism, it's about how Indonesian government is being forced by foreign countries to accept their policies regarding many things, one of them being the petroleum industries.
With this bombing, it shall be known by Indonesian government that they have no other options but accepting the offer made by foreign countries or be target of more bombing.

4. Series of bombings in the world is not about the "terrorism", its about "media attention" and "policy dictating" and "market for security and arsenal industries"
England was chosen as olympic host the day before it got hit by bombs. It was the collaboration of hypocrite moslems and the security industries to make moslem extremists commit suicide so that England can have more reason to stay in Iraq and to make a higher budget for their security so the industries can have more profits.
Bombings in Spain and Turkey is about the same reason: profiting the security industries.

There are so many conspiracies in the world nowadays, and I pity the public relations people: they have to create lies all the time...

Neglect

by Eko Prasetyo @ 10:53 AM

Apparenty, I have been neglecting this blog. Sorry if you have some inconveniences concerning that fact; I have been absorbed by forex trading nowadays.

Futures market trading is very new for me and I started it with the most volatile market ever. It's been quite impossible for me to predict the forex market. Even as I have learnt about all the indicators of the market, its movements are quite unpredictable and can very sudden and surprising.

And lately, I have been dependant on the signals supplied by the others as I have been unable to surely predict the market's behaviour.

But for all the worst that's been happening, I am finally able to secure 1 US$ wholetime profit.

That's quite a relief.

Moreover, I don't have any OPEN positions for the moments, making me relaxed a little bit and give me time to rest some.

But a trader must not stop at 1 US$ profit, right?

Wish me luck !!

HYIP

High Yield Investment Programmes.

These things came up when I typed "e-gold accepting merchants" inside Google's searchbox and hit enter afterward.

It seems that those things have been around for some times now.

And it seems those things are mostly scams.

Scams?

Yeah, when someone offers you an 8% up to 20% daily profit for your money..you oughta think that it's a scam...

Fasting

by Eko Prasetyo @ 12:57 PM

I'm hungry, the air conditioner feels like a freezer, and it's cloudy outside.

It's basically a tough day for someone who has to do his religion's compulsory fasting.

Oh well..one aspect of Ramadhan Fasting is to make a daily well-fed man feels the way of life of non-daily well-fed man. That ought to teach us to count our blessings and distribute those which we have in excess to our poorer brothers.

On scientifical note, A Moslem's Ramadhan Fasting has been proven to be able to make a him healthier, because his digestive system is put to a slow down, enough to make the cells and tissues repair themselves.

So, why don't you join us and make yourself slimmer and healthier in only no more that 30 days!!

Slip of A Tongue

by Eko Prasetyo @ 12:01 PM

Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (a prominent businessman), is being scolded lately for his own statement. He said that following the Bali Bombs 2 episode, there'll be strict limitations imposed on Indonesia's pesantrens (traditional form of Islamic Boarding Schools).

Those words backfired on him, because his road to vice presidency was mainly paved by those who were prominent figures of those pesantrens. By imposing limitations on the pesantrens, the vice president will erode his own position.

A position which has been less and less safe following the rise of fuel prices and the event of Bali Bombs 2.

It seems nowadays, every words that come out of government and their PR spinsters don't sound right. They have spit out things that wounded people's feelings, over and over. Their way to handle things are quite illogical and highly ineffective

The way they manage the nation's treasury is quite absurd

And worst, their words have been contradicting their own actions

I think it's better if the people of Indonesia start to make their own stand and overthrow the businessmen-politicians syndicate that is the government !!

Revived Vibration

by Eko Prasetyo @ 7:46 AM

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Well, you know, there was something missing from my life for the last previous days: my cellphone vibration. Yep, the vibration we all set when we do not wish to annoy people about our choice of ringtones was missing from my cellphones for days.

This morning, it cameback.

Now..since I'm not cellphone technician, I don't know what went wrong before, but I can tell you 2 things that could be the candidate causes of the revival: a strong hit on the wall last night or a full night recharging session.

"A STRONG HIT ON THE WALL" you asked? Yep . You see, my cellphone is a M65 model, designed to endure violences and the elements. It even has that metal frame protector and rubberized interior to dampen shocks.

So, when my cousin asked what is that metal frame is for, I told him that it's to protect the cellphone when I'm at the foulest of my mood and need to throw something to the walls.

I even throw the poort thing to hit a wall with after I told him that. That's "A STRONG HIT ON THE WALL", mind you.

My cousin got startled (naturally) and picked the poor thing up and got startled even more as the poor thing is still on. I can only grinned in proud for my endurance tests winning a year old cellphone (it's now obselete, and being replaced by the new, more rugged, more featured, Siemens M75), it can still take a beating.

Is this the reason my cellphone's vibration returned? I don't know

The second candidate for the reason my cellphone got its vibration back is the fact that I recharged it for more then 6 hours last night. You can say I recharge it the entire night long.

I prefer to think that this is the real cure cause you see, my cellphone was recharged with different voltages while I was in Kurau last week (110 V, instead of 220 V), and it has never tasted the true pleasure of being infused with 220V electricity for long period for days !!

So, when it got a steady flow of 220V juice for more then enough..it gives back its vibe

Well, for now, I'll enjoy the return of the vibration.

Strange Days

by Eko Prasetyo @ 10:14 AM

I have been having strange days lately. You can start from the post "Kurau Field Trip IV - Finale" for what's been happening around my life.

Last friday, I come home riding a "motorcycle taxi" known as ojek here in Indonesia. The driver was a young man, and apparently, he was a start-up ojek driver.

First, he took me on a labyrinthine backstreets. I thought he knows the way, so I stayed calm.

It turned out he doesn't have the knowledge of the road and when we came out of the labyrinthine backstreets, we endep up some 20 miles from my home .

20 MILES !!

So I had him turned back and took the long way home amid the rain that just started to pour down and piercing my skin when we speed up!!

I paid him the normal fee. It was his mistake that he had to take way longer route.

Then lately, I had dreams that feel more controllable and feel more like a long dramas than bunch of moving images glued together.

And I can control the dreams too. I can decide what should I do in those dreams.

The dreams, for once, felt so real it makes my real life feels so absurd.

It feels like my subconscious has been forcing me to escape my real life and stayed on the dreamworld.

Google Sun vs Microsoft

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:53 PM

Two freegivers joint heads to fight the most fearsome money eater ever alive: microsoft.

Google and Sun joining hands can give microsoft head honchos enough reasons to keep alert every seconds they breathe!!

These collaboration could also means that Google and Sun are riding each other's back: Google utilizing Sun's powerful networking and databasing applications, and Sun utilizing Google's powerful searching and sorting applications.

What's that means?

Beware, SAP and Oracle !!

Beware, Microsoft !!

Kurau Field Trip IV - Finale

by Eko Prasetyo @ 2:02 PM

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Well, I finally got home, and had a rather unusual experiences this time around.

First, I didn't got reserved a ticket under my name and had to use another's man ticket. Bummer! I used the ticket anyway...anything to get me onboard the plane !!

Second, the seating was on different side of the plane. I usually sit on the left-hand side of the plane, right besides the wing. Today, I sat on the right hand side of the plane, behind the wing.

Third, unlike other previous homecoming journeys, the mass of clouds were somewhat thinner and not too impressive...I took only one picture during the flight.

Fourth, I didn't stop by my office like usual, but going straight home.

Fifth, I experienced an accident. You see, the bus I took hit a car, but it was the car's fault. The car was trying to make a u turn in a "NO-U-TURN" turn, and he was trying to do that from the far side of the road, while going fast side-by-side the bus. The driver's reflex was not enough to stop the bus, so the accident happened.

Those five events stacked together in one day must be a sign of something big, some critical changes, are coming my way in the near future.

Better watch my back

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 9

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:45 PM

aahh..finally I can go home tomorrow.

Basically, I told my boss that the job he proposed can't be done while I'm still hanging here on the field. It's all because the well service group is taking the necessary tools to fix the currently shut in wells first and have no time to serve the job intended.

So, after doing logging job for two offshore wells on one platform and doing chemical test on the field lab, I am basically doing no field job today. I am spending the day doing blogexplosion and learning more about marketiva and the ups and downs of a forex trader's wealth.

It is quite difficult for a newbie like me to grasp the essence of forex trading. It is full of many volatile elements, not to mention the number of indicators you need to read in order to be able to put a critical decision.

I have understood patient is one virtue that a forex trader must have. Other virtues would be the ability of becoming emotionless and the the ability of doing real time analysists while gazing at few everchanging indicators.

Of those virtues, I surely lack patient. There are number of times when I use my emotions to start trading positions and use my stubbornness to keep a losing position open. These two have contributed greatly on the draining of my capitals, whether the real one or the virtual one (yes, if you use marketiva as your forex trading platform, you'll be given US$ 5 in real dollar and US$ 10000 in virtual dollar for practice).

I guess I need to take a formal training. A friend from Dowell Schlumberger has offered to train me for US$ 50 per month. He claimed he have been having US$ 60.000 circulating in his forex capital. He had shown me his works. He is a MASTER!!

Ah well, I'll be coming home tomorrow, it'll be time to go serious once I land home !!

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 8 part 2

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:48 PM

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Aaah, after 3 hrs of sleep, I finally was able to walk with full conscious and got liberated from that "shaky" feeling I brought from being rocked on a boat for hours.

Finally I reported that Lab job I have done 2 days ago, after typing it for 3 hours and got interrupted by my senior asking me to join him on a ride to find the mysteriously missing 400 barrel sized brine tank.

Boss added another job this afternoon, but field personnel said that the job will not be possible to be done when I'm still here..so..I'll be facing uncertainty. What should I do tomorrow?

Oh well..hopefully, I can go home on friday and enjoys my warm bed and my own fast, 1.8 GHz Athlon XP brained, ATi Radeon 9600 powered, 40 Gigabyte strengthened PC..so unlike this relic I have to enjoy everytime I do a field trip...

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 7 and Day 8

by Eko Prasetyo @ 9:03 AM

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Finally, another logging job on the same previous platform. The same logging unit, the same logging routine, but without the same sleepiness I had in the previous run. I believe it was because of 2 cups of 3-in-1 instant coffee I took in the afternoon.

Got there by boat which rode on violent sea. The seawaves were raging, I believe due to the kinda stormy weather. This made me difficult to make a crossing from the smaller boat to the larger thugboat that served as our center of operation. The wave rocks the boats all the time, forcing me to time my footings correctly or I'll be slipped down to the raging current of the angry sea.

And maybe because of the violent sea, a 40 foot tubing was dropped off a hook of a crane to pile of tubings on the LCT. It was very scary to watch cause there were people right under it. Thanks God everyone was out of the falling zone in time.

The waves also rocked the thug boat all the time, made me sick after 30 minutes sitting there, so I decided to cross to the platform.

The crossing bridge was made of metallic grates this time, not wooden planks at the previous logging job. Well, I guess it was safer last night to make a cross.

Anyway, the logging job itself was running smoothly, albeit a long preparation routines done by Schlumberger personnel. By the time the sun rose in the east in Day 8, the job was done.

I went back to Kurau by boat, the sea calmer this time. Got to the main office, I sent the raw data to my bosses and colleagues, download the photos stored on my camera, and wrote this blog entry.

Aaah..finally..the reason I came here in the first place was succesfully done.

Can't wait to go home..

Fuel Conspiracies:How Indonesians Life is Dictated By Gasoline

by Eko Prasetyo @ 12:00 PM

The government of Indonesia, on October 1st, 2005, has finally lifted almost entire subsidies that have been given to fuel prices. It caused unrests everywhere. Prices of everyday needs levitated uncontrollably, even before the oil prices rise.

All of sudden, the poors get poorer, and the riches get worried.

And I believe government officials and legislative members, who have been sucking lifeblood of government's budgets like a shameless vampiric corruptor they are, will propose a rise in their salary. Can't blame them, all they can do is diverting government's money into their own greedy pockets before it gets to the people.

Corruption is in every breath they take.

Now, concerning the fuel rises, there are many conspiracy theories that have been around, and two of the most prominents are:

1. Governments can no longer support the subsidies, therefore it must be reliefed from such burdens

This one is the oldest of the theory, and the most acceptable one. Government have been putting subsidies into the fuel prices to keep them low and to help the poors.

But it also helps to make Indonesian labors one of the cheapests in the world. And many investors rely on that cheap prices to put industries here.

It also helps Indonesians to enjoy low fuel prices; they have been spending them uncontrollably. This fact have been helping to create a culture of consumerisms and laziness, where smokers, gamblers, and sex gamers have been born from the lower classes.

Furthermore, the low fuel prices have been a perfect reason for leeches to smuggle the fuel to country where the prices are higher, thus helping on creating many oil shortages that have been happening lately.

In general, oil price subsidies have been helping to create a culture of pseudo-economy. In this kind of economy, citizens are not living in a real economic condition, cause many of the prices are "unreal".

When the subsidies are lifted out, prices will go near their "real value". With this real values, people will think further before they consume some tertiary or quartenary needs. This, somehow, will create a culture of efficiencies and hard works.

The nullification of subsidies will also help government to give more money to many sectors that really need to be subsidized, such as health, education, housing, and public transportation systems. Providing that the vampires will not suck away the funds, poors will be somewhat less grumpy if the government can do this kind of "specific subsidies" effectively and efficiently.

Speficic subsidies will also help to reduce the unrests among the people caused by the sudden alleviation of oil prices. Hopefully, it will help to reduce price of primary needs such as staple foods and electricity.

2. Foreign fuel companies need to have a high fuel price to step in and enjoy Indonesians market

It has been said that many foreign fuel companies have been aiming at Indonesian lucrative fuel markets, but they can't compete with the previous low prices. With the fuel subsidies lifted out, the oil prices are somewhat at acceptable level with their own fuel prices, and they will be able to put their own gas stations here.

This theory can also be linked to the fact that news of fuel shortages are somewhat abundant lately. It seems the news of the shortage will help create an image that PERTAMINA, local government owned fuel monopolists, is not able to fully fulfill the needs of fuel, and will be helped by the foreign fuel companies to fill the gaps.

If this theory is true, then people of Indonesia can be convinced that their government is nothing but the puppets of foreign interests, with the desire to help their own people kept at minimum.

October 1st, the day the government raise the fuel prices, Jakarta's sky is filled with fighter jets flying in formations. Hercules transport planes flew low. My cousin said that it's government's efforts to put pressures on the parties who had planned to put a HUGE demonstrations yesterday.

Today, bombs blew out in Bali. I say it's the government's effort to put the media occupied by the explosions and away from the fuel prices issue.

The more I think of it, the more I can feel that my country is besieged by foreign interests, and its citizens are considered as statistics only, not real people.

Is this our punishments for letting the corruptions infiltrate our daily lives for so long?

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 5

by Eko Prasetyo @ 7:47 AM

Day 5 found me doing almost nothing but sleeping, browsing the internet, and making the sequence of event memo about the logging job I did the previous 2 says.

It was quite an uneventful day, except when I typed the report.

You see, I was not taking full records of what happened during the logging, so the report was quite short when compared with the previous reports. But all of the major events were typed there in the report, so...whatthe heck, anyway.

I am bracing myself for managements angers monday morning. Hopefully I'll be back on the platform doing some logging again

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 4

by Eko Prasetyo @ 7:34 AM

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us I continued on logging on day 4. Since I am not much of a night person, I fell asleep over and over in the middle of the logging session. Due to that, I failed to take records of little things that happened that night, but I didn't fail to record the major things, like recording the changing of logging routines, instrumental failures, and the management decisions that put delays to our work.

Oh yes, I was accompanied by a senior engineer that night, we took shift in watching the logging procedures.

The logging was done somewhere around 10 a.m in the morning. We downloaded the data, and around 11 a.m, me and the senior engineer rode a boat back to Kurau to conduct a Friday Prayer.

I had no chance to took a shower prior to the Prayer, I just hoped God will forgive me.

So, around 1 p.m, I sent the results of the logging. They managed to put quite a stir to the managements, enough to make them changing their decisions in matter of minutes.

So, around 2 p.m, I was told to return to the platform to do a re-run of a USIT logging. They said the results were questionable.

So, riding a special boat, I returned to MWE Platform.

Reached the top of the platform, I found the SLB guys had ran the USIT tools again.

Along the way, the tool got malfunctioned, and we decided to abort the operation. The results wouldn't change much from the previous runs anyway.

So, by the afternoon, the entire logging job was done. What was left was a matter of rigging down the tools and the logging unit and moved them back to the LCT.

I stayed with SLB crew to watch the movings and to wait for a boat to carry us back to Kurau.

During the waiting, I watched the night sky. If there's something I really like about being in the field duty, it will be the sky of Kurau. During the day, the sky will give me pictures of beatiful clouds forming, rolling, and moving on a clear azure sky. Pictures that sometimes rivalled the best that a professional painter can produce. During the night, the sky will give me beautiful pictures of stars and the moon and the milky way and all other heavenly bodies that are visible during the night.

In between, the sky gives me sunsets I can't find anywhere else.

I can't have them in Jakarta.

And when I rode a boat back to Kurau, still I look at the sky, marvelling God's creations and the vastness and the unlimited feelings you can have when looking at them.

Arrived to my room in Kurau, I took night prayer and tarawih prayer continued with witir prayer.

It's Ramadhan, King of The Months, where your good deeds are rewarded multiple times.

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 3

by Eko Prasetyo @ 12:15 PM

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Day 3 and 4 had me doing the intended logging job, up on an offshore platform that as high as 4 stories building made entirely from pipes, tubes, beams, and many other things metal.

Arrived on a boat on schedule for a hydraulic workover unit (HWU)crew change, I landed on a landing craft and transport (LCT) ship which had on it all of the giant units that will be used for the logging.

The HWU was already rigged up on top of the platform, had done its job pulling out the well completion (series of tubings, electric submersibe pump (ESP), motor, cables, and protector), it was waiting for the logging job.

The well service specialist on duty, Mr. Riyandono, with his experience and added with his wits and aura of command, then ordered Schlumberger Wireline unit to be pulled up, using the available pedestal crane, into top of the platform so that the logging job can be commenced immediately. The unit were divided into two, to reduce crane load and thus increasing safety.

After the unit parts were loaded up on top of the platform, I decided to climb up to watch the assembly of the units and the logging tools so that we can start immediately.

Now, this was the biggest problem I had while doing the logging job: moving from the docked LCT to the platform. You see, there is about 2-3 feet of distances from the LCT to the platform landing point. Well, you may think it's not so far away, but if you consider that the only place you could put your crossing point from the LCT is on its slippery tube-shaped fence, the landing point on the platform is a slippery metal pedestal, and the height of both crossing points is about 9 feet high above a high-speed ocean current..you'll be scared, just like me when I did my first crossing.

But I had to cross, so I throw away my pride and cross like a scary girl..well, at least I did it with safety first on my mind.

So, I crossed, and climbed up to the top of the platform..and boy, the first time there on a well logging job will make you amazed too!!

The number of masses of noisy giant units made of metal stationed there was breathtaking. That, combined with the vast span of the view you can see from there, the clouds and the sea, together with swallows that flew around the platform, is quite amazing first time experience for me.

But I was not there to be amazed, I was there to do logging job, so I did.

So, logging job I did, and it was not working without delays. First, the management got confused and delayed the operation for 2 hours.
The engineers got confused, I got confused, managements got confused. Everyone waited. Finally, the job was started at midnight, and finally I got my chance to watch logging results being composed, realtime, on the SLB monitors...for about 30 minutes..and then I fell asleep on my chair.

The job continued on the next day

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 2

by Eko Prasetyo @ 5:11 PM

What a lame day for a petroleum engineer who is expecting to do the intended job as soon as possible. I have to sit in the PE office for almost the whole day (that satellite TV back in my dorm is losing HBO...the rest of the channel are craps), trying to make myself understand more about forex trading and how to profit more.

gosh, all that stochastics, bollinger bands, MACD, and stufss really got into my head. And I also learn that forex trading is easier if you play with large capitals, i.e 10000 USD (yeah, right..)

And turned out tomorrow I'll do another lab job, testing compability between a gas well fluid with a certain corrosion inhibitor. Bummer. Another lab job.

I'm a chemical ENGINEER, not a chemical SCIENTIST! There are BIG DIFFERENCES between two of them....

Oh well, wish me luck then.

Kurau Field Trip IV - Day 1

by Eko Prasetyo @ 6:42 AM

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Well, back in Kurau and ready to do some well logging job on two offshore(!!) wells. Upon arrived on the Kurau Jetty, I looked into a mass of black clouds far away..and as I was gazing at it, a lightning striked there.
It was an omen, I think, that my logging job will be bombarded by torrents of water.
Thanks God I have always carried my umbrella everywhere I go lately.
Seeing that the clouds have been massing since I have arrived, I think I won't see clear sky sunsets offshore..but still, I'm hoping to see some beautiful mix of grey and scarlet.

Triplet of Death

by Eko Prasetyo @ 4:45 AM

Three bombs took the life of 62 people in Iraq, and I believe most of the mass media will not cover this up on their front page as they have done with London bombing or any other bombings in the "Developed World".

Why? Is this because the taking of lives in Iraq is now just statistics? Are their deaths don't mean a thing to the sleeper world because it happens so often in ? Will their death be taken more seriously?

Will dubya finally understand that it's his job to pull the toyboys out of Iraq, and let the Iraqis kill each other if they want to take control of their own land?

Every parties are killer parties nowadays in Iraq...

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! WE NEED TO STOP ANY WAR THAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE WORLD !!!
